Well... the best I could say is it was thrilling.
Plot-wise, not very satisfying. Then again, you watch zombie movies not for the plot but for the action.
Still, some very weird and stupid things there.
2 stars for making me scream and cringe in pain and disgust. :p | Category: | Music | | Genre: | Classical | | Artist: | French pianist, celliost, and violinist |
Last night we (a couple of friends and I) watched one of the most amazing performances I have seen yet.
Trio Wanderer (Vincent Coq - Piano, Raphael Pidoux - Cellio, Jean-Marc Phillips-Varjabedian - Violin) gave us a performance to remember. I only wish I could watch them again.
Each of them showed mastery over their instrument. They were, indeed, the Trio Wanderer who took their audience on a journey with their music and gave them a whirlpool of emotions. Grabe. I don't know what I'm saying anymore kasi it's that great. Suuuuper!
Here is the program:
Debussy, Sonatas in D Minor for Cello and Piano Prologue Serenade Finale
Messiaen, Theme and Variations for Piano and Violin
Turina, Trio Circulo Op. 91
(intermission)
Saint Saens, Trio Op, 92 No. 2 in E Minor Allegretto non troppo Allegretto Andante con moto Gracioso poco allegro Allegro
and an encore for which title I failed to catch.
As Pidoux and Coq played the initial performance of the night, I was once again reminded why I love string instruments. Cellos have this deep, full sound -- perfect for dramatic pieces. It gave me goosebumps.
Violins, on the other hand, I've always just loved. I loved them ever since I can remember. If it wouldn't sound ridiculous, I would even say that I loved them even before I can remember.
Ahaha. nakakatuwa, dun sa Turina, yung sort of second movement nila dun, naputol ung string ni Phillips-Varjabedian, yung violinist. Ahaha! The people laughed good-naturedly and while he changed his string, he told us that it was proof that they're the real thing and not just synching with a recorded piece. xD
After the show, as we were waiting for manong, nakita namin silang lumabas! :D And so nakapagpapicture kame ni kuya ron!! kaya lang kay Pidoux lang and Phillips-Varjabedian. Wala yung si Coq (sabi ni kuya ron, dinadala pa daw niya yung piano.nyahahaha! )
Ayun. Indeed, it's a night to remember. ^o^

short summary: Sophie Amundsen, a 14-yr-old girl, received a note from philosopher, Alberto Knox. This started her months-long philosophy course which changed Sophie's life, forever.
--- The book is one of the most amazing books I've ever read.
Jostein Gaarder is brilliant.
Long before, I've been looking for a book which could tell me the important parts of history in chronological order, without making it seem like a boring lecture. Gaarder managed to make it seem like a story that's continuously changing and developing, and for sure, it stayed true to what one of the philosophers inside has said.
The book is not without an interesting plot and lots of surprises. It's funny and witty, and informative too. It's almost as if one can use this as a reference.
Certainly, if one wants to study philosophy but doesn't know where to start, this is a good way to start.
Mind boggling and awe inspiring, truly, this will remain one of my best recommended books to anyone. :) | Category: | Movies | | Genre: | Kids & Family |
One thing I can say for sure: It's a TRUE Disney ORIGINAL Movie.
Personally, I think I set my standards up too high and didn't think of how typical Disney Original Movies are.
Characters: I give this a one star (if possible, no star). The characters where stereotyped, as should be expected from Disney Movies. Although, it does seem appropriate since Disney Movies' target audience are not movie critiques but young audiences, and what better way for kids to understand the point than to stereotype the characters, right? :)
Personally, though, I didn't like it since, like I said, I set up my standards high above.
There was no character development whatsoever, and each character was portrayed in a rather plain drawing.
Plot: It was plain. I'll give this a one star (if possible, no star). Again, typical "miracles" happened, as should be expected. Very predictable (as usual). And yes. Plain.
Songs: I developed a certain liking to a few of them, and so I'm giving this 2 stars. However, there are certain lines in the song which I don't think makes sense in relation to the plot of the story. A lot of times even, it seemed as if the story was made FROM the song, instead of the other way around, which made the story line a bit too fast-paced.
Singing voices: 1 star.
Ashley and Vanessa(sp?) sound alike, and so there wasn't anything to distinguish their singing voices from each other except the beat of the song. I personally did not like there "small-sounding" voice.
Like I said, none of the singing voices had a distinguishing quality and certainly no superstar when it comes to singing. They're okay.
Acting: 1 star. Not that they're horrible or anything, it's just they could've done better.
Choreography: 3 stars. I liked most of the choreography, except when Vanessa sang her solo. For me, her movements and the song didn't match too well. I feel as if she put too much movement when her voice wasn't putting that much effort. so yes, it didn't work so well.
Overall: 2 stars. (and I think I'm being quite generous)
Well, like I said, no character development, poor plot, so-so songs and voices.
It's a typical Disney Movie which targeted the young audiences.
