This is what really happened:

While at Banana Leaf earlier this evening with my big brother, I received a text from Kuya Ron on my globe phone

Ron: *texts something about not being fulfilled in his current course and not knowing what to do or where to go*
me: *texts something akin to sympathy and encouragement to try and find what he really wants*
Ron: *texts somethng almost egotistical but was really just being honest*
me: *texts something about seeing himself in 5 years*

Then I receive a text on my Sun Phone...
Ron: *something about Goya being manufactured in the Philippines but is actually a foreign brand*
me: I thought goya was a Phil product!

Then back to Globe:
Ron: texts something that had these words somewhere in them: I'm really confused

(at this point my brother accidentally read the message, grinned, and jokingly asked if Kuya Ron was gay. So to lighten the mood of the text...)
me: I texted something like this: You're confused? Talaga? I thought you're sure you aren't gay?     Hahahaha! joke lang kuya ron. =) If you're really confused you should just stick to where you are now blahblahblah...


Then later at home, as kuya was digging through my bag for his sim card, he saw me receive a text message in my sun phone which he read:

Ron: I thought so too...

Kuya's grin sent me to fits of laughter that until now, I couldn't quite stop. xD

To better relate to you why we're laughing, I'll illustrate the exchange differently:

It's been over 3 weeks already since our internet crashed. It's like Christmas 2006 all over again, when I lost my laptop to virus and old age and I had to borrow my dad's laptop to do my papers. It wasn't bad actually, it effectively put a stop to my dangerously evolving infomania sickness (I spent more than 24 hours on the internet. I leave it on the whole day, afraid to miss any messages and/or updates as I went on my day's plans. scary)

So although this alienation is not my choice, and although it's giving me a tough time with school work (yes, I'm used to having everything I need just within my reach. By need I mean information for homework and whatnot), I think it's a good thing. It stopped my Facebook addiction just before I got addicted to it.


I don't know why I seem to have all the badluck in the world when it comes to gadgets. Either they would catch viruses or crash just when I need them the most. Printers at  home seem to have it bad for me: Just when I need to print my paper (while running late for school) it would be all stubborn and not print me any page. My Emails and mobilephones seem to have it equally bad for me. They would not send important messages or I would not get them. They also seem to like playing jokes on me. Like I would send my email, see that I sent it, and then find out later on that I got an incomplete because my professor did not receive it. What the hell?


I do not trust technology anymore. =/ That's why I guess it's good that I get time off from unlimited surfing. xp



Nonetheless, Thank God for 5pesos per 15 minutes Globe 3G Internet without which I would not be here now. And I would have gone crazy from isolation. :))

Why always just someday? Why not today? Or even tomorrow or next week?

But we have the power to make someday a realization, and not just a someday, just like we have the power to draw or write anything from our minds.



So I say, it's okay to say someday. Just make sure you don't let your someday remain a someday.

It's Spring goddamit! We were on our way (albeit unwillingly and uncomfortably) to higher temperatures, even already hitting the 90's (the valleys and deserts hit up to 100+) and okay, I wished for it to get cooler this weekend before we go home but not this cold!

My toes are freezing and I constantly have to pee (and God knows I don't want to do it in the middle of the night. =/) and it's just so goddamned COLD!

Drizzles and light showers accompanied us throughout most of the day (though they call it a "freak storm". go figure) and we even had to wear scarves just to keep ourselves warm enough. And I heard that in some parts, it snowed again. HAH! Snow in May! Who would have thought? xp

So much for summer and swimsuit openings. So much for a three-day weekend. =))

 

I like to think it's just California shedding it's tears and giving us some love before we head back to the tropics. xp

Being unable to use YM is killing me! T_T

 

I feel so... so... DISCONNECTED from the people back home! And I hate it 1.) because it's making me sad; 2.) I'd feel more lost when I get back; and 3.) it's like getting a glimpse of what it would be like if I actually moved here.

It's not that bad actually... but Philippines will always be home to me. Nothing like being with Kababayans (ahahha! sige lang, gamitin ang english grammar sa tagalog. xp) and people I could be myself with. Ang gusto ko dito, ang dami mong mabibili. As in, you can find everything for anything. If you think Philippines is getting more and more commercialized, well it's just a fraction when compared to how highly commercialized this place is.

But take note: I'm talking about California. I can't say the same thing for the other states seeing as I haven't been to other states before.

 

Ahahha! and I guess when we talk about looks, I feel more at home here because I totally blend in. :p I have no problem with shoes and clothing, if you know what I mean. ;D And I'm totally at home with the spring weather. Though, I dread the dry heat during summer because, from experience, I'd rather experience the hot, humid heat back home. =/

And store people here are waaaay friendlier, or at least, they give more effort to appear more friendly. Cheerful greetings and thoughtful offers of help are what they give instead of the scripted lines they give us back home.

Like the other day, we were at sketchers buying shoes, and I must've had a total of 5 times being asked if everything was okay. Thrice was from one guy who kept coming back saying that if I needed help, I could just give 'em a call, one was from a lady who was passing by and seemed to think that I had trouble with my shoes, and one was from another guy who looked like the first guy 'cept for the earring... maybe they're twins? or maybe it's the foreigners-looking-alike syndrome -- I couldn't tell them apart. xp

 

Some people still mistake me as a Latina. In the Exploration Park, when I was exploring by myself, some group of friends tried to talk to me in Spanish or Mexican, or whatever. and I just smiled, shook my head, and said "I'm sorry, I don't understand. Can you please speak English?" One of them continued to talk to me in Spanish (or Mexican), and he was sort of asking me something. But I was kinda suspicious because it didn't seem like they were asking me for directions. >.< So, I just said, "I'm sorry, I really don't understand you, maybe you could ask someone else." and I walked away and went up the 3rd floor and before I went down, I made sure they weren't following (because you never know!). *whew*

Those were some crazy mexicans. =/ I dunno if my English was that bad that they didn't understand it, or they thought I was kidding when I said I didn't understand them. I prefer to think it's the latter because I don't think my English was that bad. As proof, I have some who tell me how surprised they are at how I speak English without as heavy an accent they hear from other Filipinos. Someone even said I don't have an accent. (Hahaha! Sa isip-isip ko, malaki ang tulong ng maarteng mag-english. ;p)

Ah well, buti pa sa Manila, kahit san magpunta, maiintindihan ko ang salita ng mga tao. :p

Whenever I remember my dream last night, NAIINIS AKO!!!!!

 

Bakit kasi siya pa?! Bakit siyaaaaaa. T_T Napaka-soap-opera-ish tuloy nung dream. ew ew ew ew ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!

The first time I went here, I had weird continuous dreams (meaning they're like episodes which continue on to the next dream I have), as well as weird ones that made me all angsty and such enough to make me write stories about it. *blech*

And those dreams were realistic. As in, I feel more into them than usual when I dream back home. =/

 

And now, on my second visit here, I'm having weird realistic dreams again. The kind that leaves the feelings with me throughout the day, and at other times, for most of several weeks.

 

And you know what's more weird? Last night's dream starred Richard Gutierrez. @_@

Okay, I'm not going into defensive mode and act all shocked and apalled that of all people, I dreamt about him. >_< but I AM going to say that I, apparently, have a crush on him without me knowing it. I mean, sure, he's good looking and all that I even had a crush on him when I was 13, but after seeing how horrible his acting was, I immediately got over it. Well, apparently, there is still that small crush. =))) And okay, ashamed as I am of admitting it, there's no escaping the sad, harsh truth.

If you think I'm going on to share what the dream was all about, think again. xp I did more than enough when I admitted dreaming of him, and that's all you guys are going to know. XD Taunt me, tease me about it, I don't care. Gwapo naman siya kahit paano eh. :p and you can't argue with that. :p

Well, for the record, it was only in the last couple of years that I realized it wasn't an adapted Chinese name for "pedestrian lane" that read "Ped Shing", but was, in fact, a sort of text version of "Pedestrian Crossing". =))))))

Lake Tahoe is AWESOME!!!

Although we did not get to stay as long as I'd have liked and though I wish there were more snow, I still think it was awesome!

I wasn't expecting to see as much snow as we did, and quite frankly, stories from other people about Lake Tahoe did not do it justice. You have to be there to really appreciate it.

The mountains were awesome -- good thing we ended up in North Lake, we got to see some sceneries we might otherwise not have seen had we ended up where they originally planned to go: South Lake.

I need not wish to experience real-life action-movie-like today. Irresponsibility caused us to suddenly swerve in a U-turn and then find ourselves going against a one-way Freeway street. geez. I half-expected us to go plunge ahead to find the "missing/left/dropped eyeglasses" and swerve around head-first through the cars "Rush-Hour"-esque (or something like those cop flicks on TV).

Apparently Tito thought it was a two-way street. 8-} hahahha! Live Action is... @.@

Thank God we're alive.

    The old man who dropped his banana peeling and sun glasses on the ground in his haste to help and take our picture (which was, as it turned out, all for nothing because he didn't get anything. but we figured it was too much trouble to call him back and have him take it again. :p)
    and the nice lady who took her dog to a No-Dogs-Allowed area beside the lake, but was, as I was very happy to find out, artistic enough to be thoughtful about how to take our picture. :p

I am hours away from the first time Joan and I will travel thousands of miles on our own.

I'm excited and nervous at the same time. I mean, I know we are old enough to be able to do it on our own (we are 18 and a half!) and we are also smart enough for it, but I hope nothing goes wrong.

I've researched about the plane we're taking and it seems nice enough. :D (we have our own tv/audio! *whew* that's a relief. 14 hours is a long time!)

I'm not a techie geek that's why this post would not be about cam phones and vid phones. Instead, it would be about how A-M-A-Z-I-N-G it feels to have people want to come up to you to capture your performance on it.

 

Last night, as I have said was exhausting but was lovely because I spent it with my friends from church. But what made it amazing was when I saw some people with their cams and vids out capturing our (kuya cholo and I) duet. I suppose they were doing it na since Kuya Cholo first sang his solo (because who wouldn't? I would have if only I had my phone with me. =/) but I noticed it only when I sang with him again.

 

Siguro mababaw para sa inyo yung reason and you wonder how it was amazing, but well, I dunno, kasi I was really surprised to find myself there. I mean, siguro I forgot, pero I really didn't know that I was supposed to sing (proof yung hindi ko paglagay ng make-up). So in short, it was sort of "on-the-spot". Buti na lang I sang one of the songs before kaya lang hindi ko memorize yung lyrics, and the other one I have been singing in the bathroom for months na, kaya lang hindi ko rin memorize yung lyrics because it's in Italian. xp

And you know, I just really thought my performance was disastrous. And then I saw those people trying to capture us on video, I guess it just made me feel good to know that they thought the performance good enough to want to take a video of it. :p

I mean, it's not everyday that you see people trying to take a video of you (na hindi pang-blackmail okay?). Kaya ayun.

 

And a special note to zyra who, with her hugely appreciated praises, made me feel better last night even though feel ko sinabi lang niya yun dahil friend ko siya... xp (don't worry zy, maybe you and badong would be singing that duet sometime soon. yihiee!! ;D)

Oh yeah, yesterday was really an on-the-spot-note-and-lyric-reading-as-well-as-try-to-remember-old-song's-lyrics-as-best-as-you-can day.

Jesu, Joy of Bach was sung yesterday by ate candy, kuya, cholo and I (and we were accompanied by kuya bien on the piano, and ate rechelle alcanses and ummm mr. val something, on the violin) and whoooo. grabe, actually nasabi na sa akin nakakantahin yan before, but for some reason I thought sa May pa yun. And I thought chorus lang. I didn't know na yung "aaah" part yung kakantahin namin. xD So yeaaah. Major cramming ako minutes before the wedding trying to learn the part. sheeesh.

tapos yung It must be love na hindi naman namin plinanong kantahin, kinanta din. xp wala pa kameng lyrics! hahahaahahha! super old song. :p
